In one of my earliest memories, I’m sitting on a bed just after a bombing in my hometown: I’m tearing apart a Fisher Price “music box TV” with a screwdriver, attempting to get the painted figures out – to set them free… I am a “story-maker”…Inspired by a line from a poem, a quote from a book, a feeling, a memory, a glimpse… The characters in my stories can sometimes be abstract, and the narrative may not be readable, but for me there’s always a scene.
I am fascinated by forms and the lines created when surfaces meet. Through my artwork, I explore different forms’ characteristics, visual weight, and the juxtaposition of mass and void.
I believe each of our human minds is a unique database filled with life experiences, fears, thoughts, memories, feelings and facts. Art gives me the opportunity to simultaneously pull out those diverse creative components and re-make a new reality: my visual stories.
